Grow Hockey Movement

For the Love of Hockey
Grow Hockey Movement Inc.’s Mission: Create Opportunities for the Next Generation of Players Tampa and the Tampa Bay region have cemented the area’s status as an NHL Hockey Town ever since the 2004 Stanley Cup win, and in 2015 and 2016, through the back-to-back Eastern Conference Finals appearances by the Tampa Bay Lightning. Grow Hockey Movement, Inc., also known as Grow Hockey, knows that some of the next great hockey players are out there in Tampa Bay, and just need a chance to play street hockey, also known as dek hockey, to become a hockey player for life. Just ask any pro or amateur hockey player where they got started. Yep, it was street hockey. Boys and girls ages 4 and up can now learn dek hockey through the IRS nonprofit Grow Hockey Movement, as we seek to help make the sport as widely available as possible by teaming up with Lightning Made Hockey, the local school systems, after-school programs and others. Whether it’s street hockey, dek, or ball hockey in a rink, roller hockey or ice hockey, all hockey requires special skills to create the special fun of the game. It also takes a lot of fitness and strength to be able to play the game competitively. Grow Hockey wants to help all young people have a chance to experience hockey, no matter their ability to pay. As in all other team sports, it’s all about the opportunity. Grow Hockey is now offering free learn-to-play clinics with Lightning Made Hockey including appearances by former Lightning players at its home in Terrace Sports, 5311 East Busch Blvd., Temple Terrace. A new dek, or ball hockey league is starting soon. For complete info on everything, go to http://www.growhockey.org/ or
